    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Hughes giving the eulogy. Visitation will be Wednesday evening October 14, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of service.  Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.     
   For those desiring, Memorials may be made to the Oakmont Elementary School.
   Mrs. Field, age 92, of Dickson and Brentwood, a beloved school teacher and principal, died Monday, October 12, 2015.
   Mrs. Mary Gene Field was born November 18, 1922 in Davidson County, TN. She was a daughter of the late Claude Lee Martin and the late Elizabeth Eleazer Martin. She was a longtime educator. She received her B.S. in education from the University of Tennessee, and a Master’s degree + 45 from Austin Peay University. Mrs. Field operated a private kindergarten school in her home for 15 years prior to teaching 1st grade at the Oakmont Elementary where she would later serve as Principal and retire with 30 years of service to the public school system. She had achieved recognition as being Dickson County’s Best Teacher in 1981 and later the Tennessee Education Association’s “Distinguished Teacher Award.” She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and the Delta Kappa Gamma education society. Mary had attended the First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Cora Williams Bible Class.
   She is survived by her children, Mark Field of Hendersonville, TN, Susan Harrman and her husband, Kevin of St. Charles, MO, Anne Huff and her husband, Terry of Brentwood, TN; 5 grandchildren, John Field, Kevin Harrman, Julie Kropski, Jennifer Harrman, Lindsay Huff; 3 great grandchildren, Sarah Grace Field, Caroline Field, Matthew Kropski; brother, John “Pat” Martin; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Lee Field; her siblings, Claude Martin, Roy Martin, Dorothy Hughes.
    The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care given to "Mom" by Abby, Porche, JoAnn, Antonia, and Tiffany over the past 3 1/2 years.
