   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Russell Gill officiating and Misty Welsch and Scott Sloan, his grandchildren, giving his eulogies. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
   Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, January 26th from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday beginning at 12 noon until time of service.
   Those desiring, Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
   Mr. McElhiney, age 92 of Dickson,TN died  Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro,TN.
   He was born in Dickson County, son of the late Samuel Edward and Evie Holland McElhiney.  He was one of  ten children and was preceded in death by his sisters, Gracie Stewart, Tennie Brazzell, Mamie Harrell, and Beatrice Brazzell, his brothers, Clarence and Ed McElhiney and a baby brother, the third William George McElhiney. 
    Mr. McElhiney was a farmer and retired from Fort Campbell where he worked in electronic communication. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner.  Mr. McElhiney was a former city alderman for the City of Dickson in the 1960's and served as a Dickson County Commissioner.  He loved Dickson County and proudly served his community. He was married to the former Louise Kennerly for almost 72 years. He was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
   Survivors include his loving wife, Louise Kennerly McElhiney of Dickson,TN; his daughters, Betty McElhiney Elson and her husband, Dr. Mel Elson of Burns, TN and Lois McElhiney Sloan and her husband, Bob of Lebanon,TN; his four grandchildren, Angela Elson Fuller, Susan Elson Dean and her husband, Patrick, Matthew Scott Sloan and his wife, Jennifer and Misty Sloan Welsch and her husband, Matt; his six great grandchildren, Sam Fuller, Ben Fuller, Emily Welsch, Meghan Welsch, Samantha Sloan and Matthew Flynn Sloan; his brother, Leslie McElhiney and his wife, Evelyn of Gleason,TN ; his sister, Hazel Vetter of Dickson,TN.
