   A  private service for Jack has been planned by his family. It was his desire to be cremated and no formal funeral to be held.
   Those desiring, Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish or to the Humane Society.
   Jack, age 83, of Dickson,TN formerly of Kingsport TN and Bradenton, FL, died peacefully Satruday evening, January 30, 2016 at his home with his family present.
   He was born in Sullivan County in 1932, son of the late Clint Carroll and Myrtle Neal Carter. He was a 1950 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN where he was a letterman in both football and track. He held the school's record in the 100 yard and 220 yard dash for some 20 years. During his high school football years at Dobyns-Bennett the team was undefeated for three years. He later attended E.T.S.U. on an athletic scholarship in football and track and in 1954 he received his bachelors in business administration.
   He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the occupational forces in Germany during the rebuilding of Germany.
   Jack worked with with A.S.G. from 1956 until 1979 in Kingsport and later relocating to the Sarasota-Bradenton area in Florida working with Tropicana Products from 1979 until 1999. At Tropicana he was in charge of the furnace that made the bottles for Tropicana, Barcardi Rum and Anheuser-Busch.
   Retirement was good for him, moving back to his home state of Tennessee to be closer to his family. He spent a lot of time golfing , enjoying Tennessee football, especially University of Tennessee and the Tennessee Titans.  He loved trying out new restaurants until he discovered Ted's Montana Grill in Nashville. He loved his family and spending time with them. Jack was a lifelong Methodist.
   He is survived by his family, Mary Lou Eads Carter of Dickson,TN, Jackie and Buzz Rupley of Kingsport, TN, Don and Kathy Carter of Dickson,TN, Julia and Don Jennings of Kingsport,TN, Zach Rupley of Kingsport,TN, Sean and Julia Rupley of Kingsport,TN, Caitlin Carter of Nashville,TN, Chelsea Carter of Nashville,TN, Lauren Smith of Bon Aqua,TN, T.J. Smith of Dickson,TN, Fiona Rupley and Sawyer Rupley both of Kingsport,TN.
   A special thanks to his nurse, Sarah Lancaster and Alive Hospice for their loving care for Jack during the last months of his life.
