Mr. Oakley, age 58, of San Diego, CA, died February 14, 2016 at his home in California.
He was born in National City, CA on September 6, 1957 to George Oakley and Susie Polk Oakley.
George lived his whole life in California. At 12 years old he was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church by the Reverend S.M. Lockridge. After that he attended the New Life Baptist Church. He loved attending church and hearing the Reverend preach and the choir sing.  He enjoyed hanging out with his friends (Brian, Emil, Craig, Patrick and Janese "Marti") in the canyon near his house and riding his bike as a child.
George loved music from an early age and for his own personal enjoyment dabbled at playing the piano, violin, guitar and the drums, even becoming the #1 drummer in his high school. After high school he attended Mesa College studying Business Administration. Afterwards he went to City College and completed a meat cutter certificate and apprenticeship.
He also worked at the CET center for employment training as an Instructional Capacity Teacher. He worked also as an electrician, carpenter and helped to build houses. While in Tennessee he would be on the Old Timers Radio program with his Grandmother, the late Estella Polk. He also helped teach Sunday School in Dickson,TN while visiting relatives.
George enjoyed building model boats and racing them down at the Model Yacht Pond at Vacation Isle Park. He then moved on  to building planes and flying them at Torrey Pines. On beautiful calm days you would find him there with his planes.
George always had a smile and "OK" sign for everyone and always enjoyed a good comedy and laugh. Even during his illness, he kept a positive attitude.
George loved his family with his whole heart. He helped take care of his grandmother Mama Stella and Uncles. He would attend church with them. George loved spending time with his mother Susie Polk Cobb, his sister, Estella Denise Oakley Overstreet,  with his two nephews, one niece, four great nephews and five great nieces and being a big part of their life.
