Estella M. Stanley-Waller – Age 98 passed away March 31, 2016 in Detroit, MI.

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at East Dickson Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood M. and Estella Sensing Polk, brothers, Fred G. Polk, Emmett Polk and Elwood M. Polk, Jr.; sister, Beatrice P. Pendergrass.

Survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn P. (John) Davis; grandchildren, Yvonne (Kenneth) Sapp, Beverly Cooper and John Davis, Jr.; grandchildren, W. Eric Lewis, James Lewis, Clarence Cooper, Jr., Crystal Cooper and Kenneth Sapp, Jr.; 13 great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way); 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Estella Polk was baptized in a creek in Charlotte, TN as a McGavock Chapel A.M.E. church member. She sang in the choir. Estella enjoyed being a member of the Eastern Star for many years.

As a graduate of Madame Walker School of Beauty, she worked as a licensed beautician. Later, Estella worked a licensed seamstress. After being employed as a seamstress for over 30 years at Detroit Memorial Hospital, Estella retired for good.

She enjoyed her days sitting on her porch and watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren grow up. Estella received her education in the Dickson County School System. She loved to laugh, sew and lived life to the fullest.
