Funeral services, beginning with Eastern Star Rites, for Mildred Martha Springer Pendergrass will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Breonus Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. There will also be a period of viewing on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. Place of rest is East Dickson Cemetery.
Mrs. Pendergrass passed peacefully at her home on Monday, August 15, 2016. Born in Dickson County, Mildred was the daughter of the late Dan and Eugena Horner Springer. She was married to Virgil Pendergrass who predeceased her in 2013. Mildred loved to cook and the delights from her kitchen were well enjoyed by the family and friends she loved so dearly. She also enjoyed traveling to see many wonderful sights as well as being united with distant family and acquaintances. Mildred was a member of Tulip Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dickson and was a member of Greater Grace Temple Baptist Church in Nashville, serving on its Deaconess Board. She was a part of a large family and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Van Springer, Daniel Springer, Laura Jean Springer, Lester Springer, and Wilma Overton.
Survivors include her sons, Brian R. Pendergrass, Nashville, and Selwyn D. Pendergrass (Angelic), Antioch; daughter-in-law, Teresa Pendergrass, Alcoa, TN; her brothers, Robert Springer (Ruby), Detroit, MI, Haywood Springer (Paulette), Dickson, Raymond Springer, Nashville, Johnny Springer (Dora), Antioch, and Tommy Springer (Mary), Clarksville; her sisters, Rosetta Patterson, Donelson, Callie Griffin, Nashville, and Susie Abel, Nashville; sister-in-law, Iva Jean Roberson, also of Nashville; 7 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
