Born in Dickson County, Betty was the daughter of the late Dr. Herbert E. and Eva Wilma Corlew Larkins. She graduated high school and college to achieve certification as a physical therapist. She separated from service in the U. S. Army on January 5, 1946 with an Honorable Discharge and rank of First Lieutenant. Betty was recipient of ATO Ribbon, WAC Service Ribbon, and WWII Victory Medal. She was married to Albert William Hale, who preceded her in death. She continued her work in physical therapy as a civilian at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Nashville until her retirement. Betty was a member of the Baptist Church.
Betty requested, “Please, no flowers.” The family has suggested that memorials be made to Breast Cancer Research.
Survivors include two sons, Ewing Hale (Diane), Gleason, TN, and Dan Hale (Geneva), Charlotte; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, George Hale, an infant sister, and her sister, Margaret Larkins.
