    Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, February 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. His daughter, Paige Simmons Head and his brother-in-law, Judge David Wolfe will speak.  Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2nd from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
   Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, or to the Youth Group of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ.
   Mr. Simmons, age 73, of White Bluff, TN died suddenly January 31, 2017 at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
   He was born in Cheatham County, son of the late James Bennie and Ruby Mai Perry Simmons.  He was educated in Cheatham County schools. Graduate of Cheatham County Central High School, class of 1961.  He played football and was a star tailback.  He later attended Austin Peay where he received his B.S. in education, later earning his Masters in education. He was a teacher, principal, former vocational director at the Dickson County High School, assistant principal and ending his professional career as an attendance supervisor with the Dickson County Board of Education with 35 years of service.
   Willie Ray Simmons was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.   His passion was in the duck blind with friends doing what they loved.  He loved the out of doors, the land and animals.  
   A happy person, prankster and jokester who loved life  telling all kinds of stories of the past whether it be stories of the early years working on the pipeline, or telling duck blind stories, or stories of his teaching career.
   He was a loyal,  caring and loving family man who had a huge heart.  He was a great pap to  Brenan Grace and Liza Kate and loved every minute spent with them.   In his early years as a young man and later as an adult  he was very respectful to his parents and the people around him and he expected the same of others. 
   Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rachel Duke Simmons of White Bluff, TN; his daughter, Paige Simmons Head and her husband, Chad of White Bluff, TN; his beloved granddaughters, Brenan Grace Head and Liza Kate Head, both of White Bluff,TN;  his brother, James L. (Jim) Simmons and his wife, Mary of Dickson,TN; his sister, Beverly Simmons Wolfe and her husband, Judge David Wolfe of Dickson,TN;  his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Sharon Duke of White Bluff,TN. Several nieces and nephews.
