Born in Port Jervis, NY, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn Sexton Hubbard. She worked for many years as an LPN with Guardian Health Services with service at Lois M. Deberry Special Needs Facility and later at Woodland Hills Juvenile Detention Center, both of Nashville, Tennessee. After retirement, and because of her love for continued education, she studied real estate and became a realtor for Exit Realty. She was a member of Kingfield Seventh Day Adventist in Williamson County and also Dickson Seventh Day Adventist.
She loved sharing her knowledge and was most recently involved with home-schooling her grandchild. Evelyn enjoyed life to the fullest. Under her guidance, she, her daughters, and other family members have, for the last 20 years, participated in “Cookie Day.” On the designated day in December, they would make three batches each of twenty different kinds of cookies to share with friends, family members, and individuals needing a ray of sunshine. Her motto was to put others first. Because of kindnesses shown to her, she on many occasions instigated the move to provide Christmas to families in need or down on their luck.
Evelyn was known for her sayings and words of wit and wisdom. Some favorites were “Enjoy life to the fullest, we’re not guaranteed tomorrow,” or “Live for today: yesterday’s gone and we may not be here tomorrow.” “I’m not going to let yesterday spoil today.” And “Don’t let anyone live in your head ‘rent-free’.” She had a good life and was blessed to have traveled extensively with family on more than 20 cruises as well as beach vacations and site-seeing tours. Evelyn worked hard, loved her family, served the public, and worshiped the Lord.
