Funeral services for Mrs. Charlene Juanita Ballard Grice, age 88 of Dickson were conducted Saturday March 16, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Restoration Church with Pastor Enoch Lankford officiating. Place of rest is in the Dickson Union Cemetery. Charlene Juanita Ballard Grice passed to glory with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on March 13, 2013. Born March 23, 1924 in Camden, TN, she was the youngest daughter of Fred Lee and Alva Alice Jordan Ballard. She married Murlin M. Grice of Dover, TN on June 21, 1941. They initially settled in Detroit, MI where God blessed them with seven children. Juanita worked in a factory from 1941 to 1946, inspecting parts in electrical boxes used in airplanes for WWII. They moved to Roseville, MI in 1955. She helped at the schools becoming President of the local PTA and then as an Avon Representative, she was #1 in her district for 17 years and a member of their Presidents� Club. She also served faithfully at their church, Bethesda Missionary Temple in Detroit, as a Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Elder, and Church Council Member. Her favorite book was 'The Good Earth' by Pearl S. Buck. Her favorite movies were, 'The Passion of Christ' and 'The Sound of Music'. Charlene and Murlin are longtime members of Restoration Church, joining soon after retiring to Dickson, TN in 1986. Her daily focus and prayer, in her own words, 'I pray every day that my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will fulfill their destiny and calling in life and would put God first in their lives'. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by Cliff Pershing, Elijah Ballard, Freda Ballard Pinkley and Lavita Ballard Lawrence. A special thanks to Avalon Hospice that ministered to the entire family, and especially took loving care of Mom in her final days at home with her husband, Murlin, and son, Douglas. She is survived by her beloved husband, Murlin M. Grice of Dickson; children, Cynthia (David) Holliday of Ionia, MI, Mary LeBeault of Rochester Hills, MI, David (Regina) Grice of Rochester Hills, MI, Deborah Pershing of Grapevine, TX, Ronald Grice of Lebanon, Douglas Grice (fiancee` Caryn Cole), and Christina Grice of Dickson; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Loman (Norma) Ballard and Avlon (Betty) Ballard all of Camden; sister-in-law, Mary Ballard of Camden; step-sister, Estelle French; several nieces and nephews.
