Oda Eugene Tidwell

 Oda Eugene Tidwell – Age 96 of Burns passed away on August 7, 2017 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home, Murfreesboro.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4-8pm at Taylor Funeral Home. Family will also gather on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 10am until service time at 1pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Tidwell-New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Tidwell is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Spradlin Tidwell; parents, McKinley and Martha Tidwell; son, Donald Wayne Tidwell; daughter, Margaret Dean Tidwell; brothers, Lloyd Tidwell, Ewin Tidwell, Dud Tidwell; sister, Zella Lampley.

He is survived by his son, Eugene Clay Tidwell (Harrietta) of Dickson; daughter, Laura King of Burns; brothers, Snow Tidwell (Eula) of Burns, J.C. Tidwell of Burns; sisters, Mary Pokley of Kentucky and Dixie “Ivene” Brown (Howard)of Kentucky; grandchildren, Kelli King of Fairview, Jason Tidwell of Dickson, Chad Tidwell of California, and Shane Tidwell of Smyrna; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and several dear, faithful and devoted friends.

Mr. Tidwell was a career electrician, both privately and with for a period with NES. He was an Army veteran of WWII and fought in in Battle of the Bulge. He was a Baptist Pastor for over 50 years, serving in several churches including Mt. Sanai Rd Baptist in Dickson, Independent Baptist Church in Marlin, TX, Faith Baptist in Ardmore, OK and Fair Heights Baptist is Fairview.

Memorials in honor or Mr. Tidwell may be made to the Missionary Fund a Bethel Baptist Church of the Cemetery Care Fund at Tidwell-New Hope Cemetery.
