Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11am from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson TN. A reception will immediately follow at the United Methodist Church and all are welcome. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 4 to8 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice, the United Methodist Church in Dickson or the American Red Cross. Daddy would prefer that you paid it forward and helped others, instead of “giving us stuff.”
On Monday, August 21, 2017, my sweet Daddy, Jack Willey, peacefully passed away as the moon eclipsed the sun. Daddy was blessed to be at home surrounded by his family and loving caretakers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rena Janet (Hand) Willey of Dickson; his daughter, Jo Jacqueline Willey and partner Annalee Bohon of Knoxville; his sister, Peggy Sue (Willey) Elliott of Dickson; and several nieces and nephews. He was the 8th child of Myrtle and Hensley Willey and was preceded in death by his older siblings Mary Ewing, James Bernard Wiley, Edna Willey, Virginia Allman, Dennis Willey, Harry Willey, and Neal Willey.
Daddy, or Mr. Jack, as known to many, was born on September 28, 1931. He worked as an electrician for 37 years with the Dickson Electric Department. He took pride in his work, whether climbing poles in the storm, hanging lights for the holidays in the bucket truck, or ensuring limbs were cut to restore lights to others.
Mr. Jack was highly active in community activities, including collecting for various charity organizations, organizing and coaching girls’ softball, building floats for parades, hosting church groups, campaigning to support a friend, or any number of helpful projects by his wife Rena’s side.
More important to Mr. Jack was being involved by being helpful, having fun or just enjoying a good chat. He loved his family and friends deeply, which he showed by his willingness to help, to laugh with, or tease and to give a hug. Mr. Jack will be remembered in some of his happiest moments: smiling when camping, boating, fishing, taking trips or just being active with loved ones outdoors.

To the apple of his eye, his daughter, and his precious wife and lifetime companion, he was the devoted Daddy, supportive husband and the strong but silent backbone of the Willey family whose love, kindness, support and guidance will never be forgotten.
