David Wayne Dawson of Burns, TN died January 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.  Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5pm until 8pm at Taylor Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 11am until service time.  The funeral will be held in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday at 2pm with Brother Jay Robinson officiating.  Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

David was a lifelong resident of Dickson County.  David started work at a young age and worked long and hard to make sure his family was provided for.  He worked at the corrugated box factories in White Bluff and Kingston Springs, then later retired in 2008 with 16 years of service from Nissan Manufacturing in Smyrna, TN as a Production Technician.  Upon retiring, he provided lawn care for several members in the community as he felt that was a way he could give back and help them.  David was a humble man and loved helping others in his own special way, whether it be just a friendly smile, friendly word, or manual labor of some type.  He took pride in everything he did.

David loved and collected several vintage cars.  One of the fondest vehicles was his 1949 GMC Pickup.  During his retirement years, he also established D & R Auto Salvage with his friend, Randy Payne.

David was an avid sports fan and enthusiast.  David coached several Burns Girls Softball team for 8 years.  David enjoyed NASCAR racing.  His favorite race track was Bristol Motor Speedway.  David would cheer on a wide variety of NASCAR drivers if they drove a Chevrolet vehicle!  He also enjoyed camping, the beach, and attending car shows with his family and friends.

David is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vikki Graybill Dawson; Daughters, Michelle Aulidge (Brent) of White Bluff & Tiffany Dawson of Dickson; Brothers, J.C. “Cotton” Dawson (Cindy) of White Bluff, Dale Dawson (Tiffany Dunn) of White Bluff, Micheal “Squeaky” Dawson (Lucy) of Burns; Sister, Faye Carlene England of Burns; Grandchildren, Barrett Aulidge & Nathaniel Simms; Mother-in-law, Addie Lucas of Burns; Step-Mother-in-law, Norma Graybill Sherrill of Dickson.  Best Friends, Dee & Randy Payne and their children of Dickson.  David is also survived by a host of friends since he never met a stranger.  He is also survived by his trusted four-legged companion, Bo Dawson and Bo's running buddy, Charlie.
