 Mr. Clarence Marshall Bell. Sr., age 87 of Charlotte, TN passed away on Thursday March 29, 2018.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at 1 PM at Mt. Olive Church Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, TN with Pastor Charles Howse Eulogist. Place of rest will be in the Mt. Zion AME Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Monday April 2nd from 4 to 7 PM at Taylor Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until time of service at the church.

 

Mr. Bell was born September 19, 1930 in Charlotte, TN.  He was the only son of the late Martin Bell and Ora Lee Collier Bell.  After a brief service in the U.S. Marine Corps., he began working for the W.F. Holt Construction Company and later retired from TVA in Cumberland City, TN.  He was an advocate for the Charlotte community and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Lone Star Lodge No. 15.  Also, Mr. Bell was a life long member and an Elder Deacon of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  Known by everyone as Papa, he never once met a stranger.  He loved to BBQ, sit on the front porch in his overalls and cruise around town in his Ford pick-up truck.  He was a devout family-oriented man and loved by so many.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Hazel Bell; his sisters, Annie D. Bowers, Georgia B. Ellis, Ellen B. Oakley, Eddie Mae B. Collier; and grandsons, Trent A. Holt Sr., and Bryan M. Holt.

 

Survivors include his children, Cynthia Faye Holt-Batey of Nashville, TN, Clarence M. Bell, Jr. (Sylvia) of Nashville, TN, Rebecca Bell Videau of Dickson, TN, Jammie B. Majors of Charlotte, TN, Angela Bell Derrick of Nashville, TN; sisters, Edvenia Bell of Ashland City, TN, Lunie B. Nesbitt of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Pearlie M. Travis of Cleveland, OH, Margaret S. Chamberlain of Nashville, TN; aunts, Carrie O. Bell, Edith Poindexter; cousins, Oscar P. Robertson (Yvonne), Henry L. “Hank” Robertson, Harold  Bell, Douglas Bell; special friend, Donnell Ramey; 9 grandchildren, Dawn Stone (Jaron), Katrina M. Bell, Marquessa Marcy Morgan (Jeff), Anthony Martin-Daniel Videau, Trevor C. Majors (Heather), Chynna H. Derrick, Angelo C. Derrick, Herman Matthews (Tabitha), and Anthony Matthews (Jennifer); 19 great grandchildren.
