Born in Nashville, David was the son of the late Lester Daniel and Ruby Lee Taylor Dawson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Dawson. David retired with 29 years of service as a truck driver and teamster with USF Holland Trucking Company. He was a devoted family man and loved his grandchildren. David loved horses, horseback riding and camping. He also loved to travel and to go on cruise ships for as long as his health allowed. He was a member of Pegram Church of Christ and enjoyed being active in church work. A staunch supporter of the U. S. Constitution and its Second Amendment rights, David loved his country, his freedom, his outdoor life, and the National Rifle Association (NRA). To family and friends, he was very vocal about these freedoms and was unwavering in his love and support for America and family values.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Napier Dawson, White Bluff; his son, Scott Dawson, White Bluff; a step-son, Rodney Allen Shepherd (Nikki), Charlotte, TN; a step-daughter, Kimberly Sue Karnes, White Bluff; two brothers, Glen Dawson (Josie), Jupiter, FL and Billy Dawson (Brenda), White Bluff; a sister, Betty Story (Joe), Corinth, MS; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
