 Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Chatham, Julia Holt, and Tommy Marvin will share thoughts, personal remarks, and readings for her service. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be on Monday, November 12th from noon until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Ethel Johnson, known by family and friends as "Scoopy", age 81, died peacefully at her home after briefly battling cancer. 

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Ethel was born August 15, 1937, in Williamson County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Ross and Willie Mai Anderson Poteete.  She worked many years at Wal-Mart and K-Mart in Dickson, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry Johnson; great-granddaughter, Olivia Moffitt; brother, Thomas Ross Poteete; Sisters, Betty Jones, and Lynia Davis.

Ethel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially those at Shoney’s and Bowl-O-Rena. Ethel also loved her trips to Harrah’s Casino in Metropolis.  She was a fun loving, sassy, kind-hearted, hard-working lady who deeply loved her family.  Ethel was a lively, spirited lady who loved life and could easily liven up a room just by her presence.

Survivors include her son, Brent Johnson of White Bluff, TN; her daughters, Debbie Jonte and her husband, Joe of Dickson, TN, Donna Estes and her husband, Joe of Dickson, TN; her grandchildren, Jennifer Caruthers and her husband, Pat, Brandi Olson, Joey Jonte, Amanda Peden and her husband, JoJo, Laura Beth Estes, Alli Johnson, and Alayna Johnson all of Dickson, TN; her great-grandchildren, Karter Harrell, Madison Harrell, B. J. Peden, Mason Olson, and Ellie Olson and step-great granddaughter Madison Caruthers; her brother, German Poteete of Springfield, TN; her sisters, Elizabeth Poteete of Franklin, TN, Mary Ruth Toungette (Alan) of Franklin, TN, Marge Poteete of Nashville, TN, Grace Morris of Hartsville, TN, Virginia (Chuck) Jones of Callahan, FL; special friends, Peggy Harrington and Mildred Burton.

Active casket bearers will be Joe Jonte, Joe Estes, Pat Caruthers, Richard Greer, Jeff Bledsoe, and Jerone Holt. Honorary will be Joey Jonte, JoJo Peden, Scott Jones, John Jones, Ronnie Duke, Dennis Howell, Robert Mitchell, Kenneth Adkins, Steve Corbitt, and Tony Bales.
