Memorial services will be held for Rena Hand Willey on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1pm from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson TN. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, Rena requested donations to the First United Methodist Church in Dickson or any charity of your choice. Rena would prefer that you paid it forward and helped others, as she did for the majority of her lifetime.

On Saturday, November 17, 2018, Rena, sweetly and peacefully passed away surrounded by those she dearly loved as she listened to the heartfelt song “May the Circle Be Unbroken.”  She is survived by her daughter, Jo Jacqueline Willey and partner Annalee Bohon of Knoxville; along with nieces and nephews that she loved as her own. She was the third and last living child of Claude and Frances Suggs Hand and was preceded in death by her sweet husband, Jack Willey and siblings Nell Frizzell, Walter (Bubba) Hand, Sue Loggins and Joseph William (Billy Joe) Hand.

Rena was born on May 3, 1933.  She worked in the banking industry in Dickson for 57 years.  She was a person devoted to the people and ideals in which she believed and strived daily with passion to support them.  Whether her focus was serving as a banker, Sunday School teacher, Red Cross Volunteer, president of a group, board member, party planner, political activist, friend, aunt, daughter, sister, wife or mother, Rena would give generously of her time, energy, hard work, love, and direction.

Rena was a pioneer for women by serving in leadership roles such as First National Bank’s first female branch manager with an all female staff; Vice President of Dominion Bank; President of the Chamber of Commerce; and Jackson Foundation Board member.  Her strong belief in God guided her in her various involvements and accomplishments.

To her daughter, the apple of her eye, she was a devoted Mom, whose legacy was that honesty, hard work, selflessness and integrity are actions – not words.  She truly believed people were the most precious commodity on earth.  She will be missed every moment and cherished forever.
