 Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, December 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Mitch Stevens will officiate. Place of rest will be in the Dickson Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening, December 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday beginning at noon until the time of service.

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Dickson Senior Center.

Mrs. Sanders, age 85, of Dickson, TN died suddenly Wednesday evening, November 28, 2018, at Horizon Medical Center.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Hickman County, daughter of the late Jesse Hollis and Joella Hickman Wherry.  She was a class of 1952 graduate of Hickman County High School. She was the widow of the late David Hugh Sanders who died in 1992.  Dorothy was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Sanders, her daughter, Ramona Vaive, and her brother, Mr. John Wherry.   She was a longtime, faithful member of the Oak Avenue Church of Christ in Dickson.

Dorothy loved her community and gave back so much to make it a better place to live.  She volunteered for many of her passions.  She served on the Dickson County Council, and one of her longest and most loved organizations was the Dickson Senior Center where she proudly served on the board and holding many different positions. She loved calling bingo every Thursday at the center.  She was the oldest member of FCE and was past president. There were other organizations that she gave her time and energy serving. Many hours were given to the Fair Board and the Dickson County Unit of the American Cancer Society board.  Dorothy was a long- time member of the American Legion.  For over 16 years, she served Dickson Elementary School as an Adopted Grandmother. Loving and caring for the children was a great joy to her.

Dorothy loved quilting, gardening, and crafting.  She enjoyed cooking and sharing with family and friends.  Dorothy was a sweet, kind-hearted lady and will be missed in the Dickson Community for all that she gave and did.

Survivors include her children, Donald Sanders and his wife, Liz of Dickson, TN, Regina Bruce of Dallas, Texas, Reba Rye and her husband, Jim of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren, Julia Vaive, Laura Sanders, Libby Sanders, Joshua Vaive, Drew Sanders, Ethan Sanders, Hope Rye and Isabella Rye.
