Bill Hugh Gunn, age 81, of Dickson went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2019.  Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Place of rest will be in the Gunn Family Cemetery on Luffman Road in Tennessee City.  Visitation will take place on Friday at 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home.  His seven grandchildren will serve as the active pallbearers.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Bill was born on March 8, 1938 on Garner’s Creek in Dickson County.  He was the youngest son (with 9 siblings) of William Edgar and Annie Gunn.  Bill was a devoted husband for 58 years to his wife Ophelia of Dickson. Together they raised 4 children on their farm on Garner’s Creek.

Bill was a business owner and barber in downtown Dickson for 54 years, where he won hundreds of loyal customers and many lifelong friends. He served in the United States Army and loved his country to the end. He was a talented musician, a comical storyteller, and an avid outdoorsman who loved animals and found scores of arrowheads while roaming the fields and rivers of middle Tennessee. Bill was also a faithful and devoted Christian.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gunn was preceded in death by his 5 sisters: Lorene, Eva, Velma, Evelyn, and Pearl; and 3 brothers: J.W., Leon, and Ernest.

Survivors include his wife Ophelia Dickson Gunn; his two sons, John Gunn, Ed.D. (Quinn) and David Gunn, Esq. (Kristin); his two daughters, Lisa Mylhousen (Michael) and Sandy Gibson, ACNP (Tony); his sister Helen Albert (Don); 16 grandchildren, Tory Clark (Jarrod), Will Gunn (Holly), Emily Mylhousen, Joshua Gibson, Andy Gunn, Ashley Mylhousen, Al Gunn, Kaylie Gibson, Katelyn Gibson, Luke Gunn, Allie Gibson, Micah Gibson, Hadley Anne Gunn, Trinity Oliver, Hannah Oliver, and Lauren Shuber; 2 great-grandchildren Charlie and Easton; and beloved and faithful dog Jeanie.
