Mr. Bowker, age 77, of Charlotte, TN died peacefully September 3, 2019, at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville.
He was born in Davidson County, son of the late Willie and Irene Louise Christy Bowker. He graduated in the class of 1960 of Charlotte High School. He attended Austin Peay State University and studied pre-engineering curriculum and was in the Honorary Physics Society. He later received his B.S. in Building Construction from Auburn University with additional work in business administration. At Auburn, he was elected to Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Lambda Chi and was President of the Builders Guild and Scholastic Scholarships from Alabama Homebuilders Auxiliary and Keystones Club. He was an evening instructor in Nashville State Technical Institute teaching courses for NSTI and ABC.

He had a lifetime of over 45 years of field and office construction experience in international and national institutional and commercial construction. Bill has an extensive knowledge of construction management. His ability to negotiate with owners, coordinate with architects (during design and working drawings to verify budgets), and provide subcontractors with up-to-date schedules and budgets make him a definite asset to any project. According to Dick Miller of Earl Swensson Associates, “Bill is the best, conceptual estimator I have ever worked with.”

There were many companies he was associated with during his lifetime as a professional that meant so much to him.  In the earlier years, he was associated with Foster and Creighton as project manager, Phipps Construction Co. as chief estimator and project manager, B.R. Bowker Construction Co. as owner, Gregg Construction Co. as project manager and chief estimator, Construction Enterprises Co. as project manager in Doha, Qatar, Pattern Construction as project manager, Patten-Beers Constructors, Inc. as Vice- President and preconstruction services, Bowker Construction Co., Inc. from 1995-2003 as owner, Medical Construction Group, Inc. as senior project manager, and in 2006-2010 he served as preconstruction director with Skanska.

Bill loved his family and spending time with them.  He had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.  He loved spending time flying as a pilot. Bill loved to cook and share with family and friends.  He also had a love for anything with the word “classic” attached to it.  Being an Auburn graduate, his heart was always with Auburn University.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Pat Bowker of Charlotte, TN; his four children, Valerie Littleton and husband, Karl of Dickson, TN, John Hudson and wife, Lorie of Memphis, TN, Amanda Hudson Warman and husband, Michael of Brentwood, TN, and Holly Phillips and husband, Damian of Dickson, TN; eight grandchildren, Marion Kirkpatrick, Miranda Patrick, Jake Littleton, Jackson Hudson, Luke Littleton, Adam Warman, Olivia Littleton, and Sam Moore; his two brothers, Harold Bowker and wife, Louise of Charlotte ,TN and David Bowker and wife, Debbie of Charlotte, TN; his sisters, Dianne Simpson of Clarksville, TN and Kathy Robinson and husband Henry of Murray, Ky.
