         A memorial service for Yvonne Janette Easley Byars will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 from Dickson First United Methodist Church with Ed White officiating.  Visitation with her family will be from 11 a.m. until service time, also at the church.  Her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date on the family plot at Weems Cemetery.  Yvonne died peacefully on Sunday morning, September 8, at NHC, Dickson.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the church or charity of your choice.

     Born in Dickson, Yvonne was the daughter of Ralph and Virginia Weems Easley.  She was a graduate of Dickson County High School.  Yvonne excelled in the High School art department.  In her junior year, she competed with other art students and won the honor of having her design chosen as the official Dickson County Flag.  She worked in media of oil, watercolors, charcoal, pastels, acrylics, and pen/ink.  Yvonne was also gifted in music and was an accomplished harpist.  She achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) serving her country in the United States Air Force for 10 years during the era of Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraqi Wars.  She received honors in Arms Marksmanship Ribbon/Pistol; NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; and Air Force Good Conduct Medal.  She is married to Donald W. “Don” Byars.  Following her military service, she also worked as a Library Tech.

     Survivors include her husband, Don Byars, Cumberland Furnace; her parents, Ralph and Virginia Easley, Burns; her two sons, Keaton Douglas (and Amanda) Byars, Midland, TX, and Caleb Alexander Byars, Denver, CO; her brother, Tony (and Patty) Easley, Pleasant View, TN; three nieces, Andrea (and Jason) Thomason, Erika (and Jay T.) Shirer, and Tara (and John) Perry; five great nephews and one great niece.
