Mrs. Sara Katherine “Kate” Orgain Weatherspoon, age 95, of Stayton, TN died peacefully January 31, 2020 at NHC in Dickson.

Kate was born September 5, 1924 in Houston County, Tennessee.  Kate, a daughter of Wylie Herschel Orgain and Annie Laura White Orgain, was one of 6 children. The youngest, Mary Frances “Poochie” Hodges resides in Dickson.  Preceding her were her brothers, William and Dick Orgain, and 2 of her sisters, Emma Duke and Evelyn Eubank.   Kate was a product of the Great Depression growing up, so she would always remind us at the table to "take what you want but eat what you take".  She was a World War II bride, marrying Ramie E. Adams, Jr. when she was 15.  They had 2 children, Gary (Patty) Adams and Karla Adams Miller (Mrs. Dan).  She was married to Ray for 36 years.  Kate later married Dean Weatherspoon of Stayton, she was lucky to have a second family in Tim (Myra) Weatherspoon and Judy Thompson (Mrs. Dewey).  She and Dean were married for 38 years.  Kate was a retired “Sales Lady” for Hodges Jewelers, having worked there for 23 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and particularly happy with her Sunday School class and the XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) group.  She was proud of all her children and grandchildren.  Family was always important to her.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Weatherspoon; her children, Gary Adams and wife, Patty Walker Adams, Karla Adams Miller and husband, Dan Miller, Tim Weatherspoon and wife, Myra and Judy Thompson and her husband, Dewey; her sister, Mary Frances “Poochie” Hodges; and her 11 grandchildren; and her 5 great grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
