Johnny Aubrey Stamper

Mr. Johnny A. Stamper, age 81 of Burns, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Stamper were held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Capps and Bro. Allen Weller officiating. Interment was in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Although he was born in Humphreys County, Johnny lived nearly all his life in Dickson County. He was the son of the late Aubrey and Beulah Mai Stokes Stamper. Johnny served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He married Jean Brown and together they raised their sons and were active in Little League baseball, Sunday School and Burns United Methodist Church. He worked at Ford Glass Plant as a Lehr Loader. He was a member of Dickson Lodge #468, FandAM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Al Menah Shrine Temple, UAW Local #737, served as a 32-year Commissioner of the former Turnbull Utility District, and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Jean Brown Stamper, Burns; two sons, Kerry (Janet) Stamper and Kevin (Wanda) Stamper, all of Burns; grandchildren, Brandon (Leslie) Stamper, Emily (Scotty) Wills, Bradley Stamper, and Clint (Jessica) Hopper; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Stamper, Owen Stamper, Harli Dillard Blanks, Allen Hopper, Landry Hopper, and Weslee Hopper; niece, Debbie Davidson. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Stamper, his mother, Beulah Mai Stokes Stamper Welch, his step-father, Lester Welch, and his brother, Murray Stamper.
