Mr. Charles Ronald 'Butch' Work, age 69, of Parsons, TN, formerly of Dickson, died suddenly Monday evening, December 17, 2012 near his home. Funeral services for Mr. C. R. 'Butch' Work were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2013 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with the Reverend Dickie Johnson, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee officiating. Interment followed in Dickson Union Cemetery. Born in Highland Park, Michigan, Butch was the son of the late Haley Jones and Ida Marie Watts Work. He served his country during peacetime in the United States Navy. As a young man, Butch worked in sales for Ragan�s Friendly Neighbor Store. He later tried his entrepreneurial skills as manager of the former Home Entertainment Center in Dickson. And continuing in sales, he retired as co-owner/operator of Southern Alarm Supply, a company specializing in home security and burglar alarm and fire alarm protection. While in this capacity, he was a founding member of Tennessee Burglar and Fire Alarm Assn. (now Tennessee Electronic Security Assn.) and served on its Board of Directors for many years and attained its Life Membership Award. Butch was also the 1997 recipient of its Joe Duncan Award and also started the TNESA�s Butch Work Benevolence Fund. He was instrumental in developing the alarm industry�s State contractors and licensing laws. Butch was also active in community affairs in both Dickson and Parsons. He was campaign manager for former Governor Don Sundquist and was a former chairman of the Dickson County Republican Party. He was a member of Parson�s First Baptist Church. Butch was also very active in many Masonic organizations including Parson Masonic Lodge #586 (recently installed as Chaplain), a plural member of Cotton Valley Lodge #345 (recently installed as tiler), Parsons Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lexington York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Menah Shrine Temple, and Beech River Shrine Club. He was Past Grand Tiler of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee (2010), Past Master of Dickson Masonic Lodge #468, and a former member of the Shrine Motor Corps. 'Dad Work' also worked for several years in DeMolay, a Masonic organization for boys. Past and present DeMolay are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Vilda Mae Hays Work, Parsons; one son, Charles Haley 'Chuck' (and Sherrie) Work, Parsons; two daughters, Debbie (and Roger) Odell, Town Creek, Alabama and Tina (and Darren) Jarrell, Clarksville, TN; two sisters, Betty (and Bob) Burner, Louisville, Ohio and Kathy (and Gary) Holland, McEwen, TN; nine grandchildren, Jesse (and Cassandra) Clutts, Adam Odell, Elizabeth Odell, Charles Holden Work, Colten Hays Work, Charles Dean 'C.D.' Christy, III, Gretchen Jarrell, Amelia Jarrell, and Garlyn Jarrell.
