 Mr. Dowell Benjamin “Benny” Spencer, age 70, of Burns died Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services for Mr. Benny Spencer were held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Wilkerson officiating.  Interment followed in the Parker-Fowlkes Cemetery.

He was born February 27, 1944 in Dickson County.  He was a construction company owner/operator, a pipefitter, a member of the Dickson Masonic Lodge and Dickson Famers Co-Op, and was a deacon at Parker's Creek Baptist Church.  Benny was currently serving his third term as Dickson County Commissioner for the Sixth District.  He was preceded by his parents, Buck and Beatrice Spencer and by his wife, Faye Seagraves Spencer.

Survivors include his two sons, Dowell Spencer and his wife, Cindy, of Burns, and Jeff Spencer and his wife, Sarah, White Bluff; five grandchildren, Justin Spencer and his wife, Sara, Madison Spencer, Courtney Spencer, Tucker Grace Spencer, and Garret Spencer; three sisters, Shirley Spicer and her husband, “Bug”, Burns, Brenda Myatt, Dickson, and Donna Henke, Princeton, MO; several nieces and nephews.
