Alene Keele Petty

 A funeral service for Alene Keele Petty, age 95, of Dickson was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Melton and Bro. Bob Talbert officiating.  Interment followed in the Union Cemetery.  Mrs. Petty died Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

Born in Dickson County, Alene was the daughter of the late Charlie Edlin and Lillie Virgin Adams Keele.  She lived in the Vanleer area for many years and was married to William Howard Petty, who preceded her in death in 1994.  While in the Sylvia and Vanleer area, she was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and Vanleer Chapter #293, OES.   She worked at the former Goodlark Medical Center for more than 14 years as a Nurse Technician until she retired to become primary caregiver to her husband.  Upon her move to Dickson, she transferred her church membership to Burns Baptist Church, and her Eastern Star membership to Dickson Chapter #291, OES where she received her 50-year pin in 2004.  She was always a good cook and homemaker and enjoyed her role as loving wife, and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Ray Petty and his wife, Sonja, Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Marilyn Sue Coleman and her husband, Harold, Dickson, and Myrtle Faye Proctor and her husband, Terry, Charlotte; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews and their families; and many dear friends who loved her and were loved by her.

The last of eleven children, Alene was preceded by her sisters, Lorene Albright, Irene Albright, Eunice Thaxton, Etta Schmittou, and Estella Staggs; and her brothers, Ernest Keele, Claudie Keele, Richard Keele, Hadie Keele and an infant brother.
