Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with her niece, Connie Ethridge giving her eulogy and Bro. Frank Whitaker having scripture, prayer and personal remarks. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday evening, August 7th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Fowlkes, age 89, of Dickson,TN died peacefully Thursday, August 6, 2015 at NHC of Dickson after a short stay. Joyce was born in Burns,TN and was the daughter of the late Seth S. and Aline Smith Stuart. She was the wife of Stanley Fowlkes.
She retired after a long career in hospital administration and health care management. Joyce worked with the former Bell-Crosby Clinic and Dickson General Hospital in Dickson and was there when it first opened the doors to provide health care for Dickson and surrounding counties. She later managed Donelson Clinic for many years and retired in 1979. During her retirement she was asked to be the administrator for the Hickman County Hospital when it was owned by Hickman County, she did, succeeded and then retired again. Not completely ready to stop working, she took a job with the Dickson County Board of Education working at the Middle School and then retired for the third time. Joyce loved every minute of life. She lived it to its fullest. She loved for her friends to drop by and visit and loved having them around her....Joyce was honest and to the point...one never had to guess where you stood with her..She carried a big heart and shared it with everyone..there was a contagious laugh and beautiful smile with her and had that rare ability to never meet a stranger. Joyce was a strong and intelligent woman who succeeded in her endeavors. She attended First Baptist Church of Dickson. She was preceded in death by sisters; Sue Hood and Becky Ruley and a brother; Bobby Ray Ethridge.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley; her daughter, Angie; her two grandchildren, Luke and Gunner; her half sisters and brothers, Aline, Diane, Kenny and Jackie; Several nieces and nephews.
