    Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Lee officiating along with her grandchildren giving personal eulogies.  Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Friday beginning at 12 noon until time of service.
   Those desiring, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the First United Methodist Church.
   Mrs. Dickson, age 97,  known by family and friends as  "Granny Sara", died unexpectedly August 30, 2016 at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
   She was born September 29, 1918  and was raised in the Eastside Community of Dickson County, daughter of the late Thurman M. and Hortye Brown Garton and was the widow of the late George L. Dickson, who died in 1969.  Her family moved into the town of Dickson when she was a teenager. She worked at Henry I. Siegel until World War II at which time she joined in the war effort and was trained in Michigan and Mobile, AL  to repair shot up airplanes so they could be returned to combat. She was referred to as one of the  "Rosie the Riveters".  
   She was allowed to return to Dickson at the conclusion of the war to marry (as she said) her "soldier boy", George Dickson of the Sylvia Community of Dickson County. They were married and lived in Nashville until 1959 when they moved backed to Dickson.  Granny Sara worked at Red Cap for several years before taking a job as hostess at Montgomery Bell Park Lodge. She worked there until she retired and then she volunteered at the former Goodlark Hospital for over a decade.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dickson.
   She was preceded in death by her sisters, Laticia McIntire, Carlene Campbell, Inez Tidwell and Magdalene Street.
   Survivor include her two sons; Dr. James L. Dickson and his wife Faye Sullivan Dickson of Nashville,TN and Terry Lynn Dickson and his wife Maury Jackson Dickson of Oak Ridge, TN, her five grandchildren, Chad Ashely Dickson and his wife, Patty of Memphis, TN, Christi Dickson Feeney and her husband, Joe of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey Lewis Dickson and his wife, Kate of Winchester, VA , Cindy Dickson Snyder and her husband, Phil of Louisville, KY and Laura Dickson Casi of Louisville,KY, also surviving are her eight great grandchildren.
