      The funeral service for Elva Ruth Davidson Jackson, age 96 of Nashville, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Tommy Marvin officiating.  Interment will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.  Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 11 a.m. until time of service.  Mrs. Jackson departed this life peacefully Monday, March 1, 2017 at her home.  For those wishing to make a memorial gift, the family suggests the National Audubon Society (Audubon.org/birds) or Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (FightDMD.com/donate).  Following the service, family and friends will gather for a reception from 3 until 4:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall at Walnut Street Church of Christ.

     Born in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, Ruth was the daughter of the late Dickson “Dick” and Mattie Ines Holland Davidson.  She was married to William Howard Jackson who predeceased her in 2007.  The last surviving sibling, she was also preceded by her brothers, Hubert, Clarence, Josy Lee, Robert, and Emery Davidson and by sisters, Leatha D. Donegan and Hallie D. Donegan.  Ruth, a registered nurse, was a 1946 graduate of Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of Cadet Nurse Corp of the United States.  She worked as an RN for Nashville General Hospital, Hickman County Hospital, and she retired in 1968 from the Tennessee Board of Nursing.  She was of the Primitive Baptist faith. 

     
     Over the years, Ruth stayed in touch with many of her nursing school friends.  Her hobbies and interests included beading, arts and crafts, quilting and a love for birds and bird-watching.  Ruth was an excellent cook and enjoyed experimenting with gourmet recipes and sharing the “finished product” with friends and family.

   
     Survivors include her nieces, Montie D. Field and Susan McIntosh; great nephews, Michael, Timothy, and Patrick Petty, and Christopher Lancaster; great nieces, Monica F. Black, Sherry F. Green, and Andrea L. Hayes; great grand nephews, Will and Brennan Petty, Joseph Black, Tyler Green, Lucas Lancaster, and Rodney Hayes; great grand nieces, Anna Claire Shepard, Jorden Petty, Laurel Black, Grace Woodie, Lyndsey Green, Courtney Jackson, Lacey Hooper, and Natalie Hayes; great, great grand-niece, Andrea Rose Shepard, and great, great grand-nephew, Sawyer Shepard.
