            Funeral services for Muriel Carley Bruce will begin at noon, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Susan Ahlheit and Tommy Marvin officiating.  Interment will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will begin at 11 a.m. until the service at 12 noon.  Mrs. Bruce died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Dickson Health and Rehab.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

      Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Muriel was the daughter of the late Michael and Crystal Calbeck Carley.  She married the love of her life, Charles E. Bruce, Jr. in 1951.  Muriel became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1964. They were married for 67 years and were together until her death on Sunday.  Her career began as a stenographer for the Canadian Mint and worked in secretarial jobs most of her life.  Locally, she worked for the former John Reynolds Insurance Agency.  She was known as a Master Cross-Stitcher and for a time, she owned and operated Stitching Frame business on Main Street.  She loved her extended family, was a great cook, and loved to can fresh fruits and vegetables.

      She is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Bruce, Jr., Dickson; Sisters-in-law, Margie Hamilton, Mary Lee Mackie, Jane Mott, Betsy Flick, Tommie Vest, Frances Unruh, and Jean Carley; niece, Debbie Carley; great niece, Christin Sanders; Beloved Caregivers, April and Tim Lyle and their children, Chris, Zach, and Bethany Lyle; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Carley and by a sister-in-law, Billie Chester.
