A celebration of life was held in his honor on October 13, 2018.

John Harmon Fuqua, age 66 of Dickson, TN, passed away at his home on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was with the love of his life at the time. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make donations to the Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

He’ll be remembered as one of the last in a generation of true southern gentlemen. He drank warm whiskey and cold beer; he wrote poetry and loved a good song.  He spent his life living the way he wanted.  He never doubted his ability to hit black 8 at the roulette table.  He tipped everyone from the top down and always said, sir and ma’am.  He was quick to flash his baby blues and southern accent to impress the ladies; he might even tell you he was Paul Newman’s brother after a few drinks.  He saw the Hawaiian Islands, Alaska, The Rocky Mountains, Canada, and Mexico.  He traveled across the country at his leisure numerous times.  He could pull off overalls and a pickup truck or a cardigan and a Cadillac and did so for years.  He sold homes, built car washes, delivered ice, and printed magazines.  And, there is little doubt he would have been an All-American had the three-point line been invented sooner.  John Jr., as his family knew him best, was the caretaker of the Fuqua name. His life was cut short by cancer, but his memory lives on in those who knew him best.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Sara Bruce Fuqua.

He is survived by lifelong companion Debbee Jo Stokes and (family) Jody May Bradley, and granddaughter Mary Jo Bradley, son Andy (Stephanie) Fuqua, grandsons Hatcher Fuqua, Avett Fuqua, and Ryman Fuqua, Stepchildren Amey Sullivan, Jamey Sullivan, and Chip Sullivan, Sisters Carolyn (Glen) Sullivan, Vicki (Jerry) Burgess, and numerous nieces and nephews.
