Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Danny Tidwell officiating. There will be a burial to follow the service at the Adams Cemetery in Dickson. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 25, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Joseph Connor “Joe” Smith, age 81, of Dickson, died on January 22, 2019 at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Clarksville. He was born on October 22, 1937 to the late Lewis and Clarice Pendergrass Smith in Nashville, TN. Joe worked at the Ford Glass Plant for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor.  He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was very involved in the Republican Party, and with the Election Commission in Dickson County for some time. He enjoyed woodworking and even designed and built his own house.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Robertson Smith and his brother, Lewis Dean Smith.

Survivors include his children Diane Smith of Dickson, Joseph C. Smith II and his wife Paidy of St. Augustine, FL, Lorie Wright and her husband Mark of Dickson, and Harold Smith and his wife Andrea of Dickson; his brothers, James Romuald Smith and his wife Charlene of San Antonio, TX, Paul Terry Smith and his wife Mary of Dickson, and Michael Smith of Nashville; his sisters, Norma Drake of Nashville and Connie Schmutz and her husband Phil of Nashville; his grandchildren, Nathan Davis, Jessica Blackwell and her husband J.D., Amy Enoch, Robert Elmore, Joseph C. Smith III and his wife Haley, Samantha Butler and her husband Jonathan, Benjamin Smith, Meredith Adcock and her husband Jacob, Alex Black and his wife Cassie, Kayla Lane, William Smith, John Smith, Thomas Smith and Peter Smith; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
