Joanna Michele Harris Bedel, 46, died on March 20, 2019 at home under Hospice care for cancer.  She was born on March 24, 1972, in Montgomery County to J. C. and Cathey (Albright) Harris and grew up in Vanleer. Joanna married George Bedel on May 19, 2018, at the TN National Wildlife Refuge in Benton County.  The newlyweds made their home in Holladay.

Joanna had an A.A.S. in Radiography from Columbia State Community College, a B. S. in Radiation Therapy from the University of AL at Birmingham, and a Master of Public Health from TN ST University, and later went on to be certified in public health.  In her professional career, she worked at several hospitals and traveled through the contiguous states to care for patients.

Joanna had a radiant smile and a hearty laugh.  She was an encourager and loved unconditionally. One of her former teachers commented that she was a determined person.  She loved to learn, enjoyed nature, and liked to travel.  She was a compassionate person who opened her home in Nashville to flood victims during the 2010 flood.  After moving to Holladay, she and George met Mr. Jimmy Barnes who came to live with them while Joanna helped to restore his general good health.

Joanna was of the Free Will Baptist faith.  Her favorite Scripture was Phil. 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Serving as pallbearers, to whom Joanna referred to as Her Boys, were Alex Pruett, Codee Pruett, Timmy Vanatta, Matt Thompson, and Daniel Sevilla.  Her son, Clinton, will serve as pallbearer, as well as her son by marriage Daran Bedel.

She is survived by her husband, George Bedel; her son, Clinton Scott; two children by marriage, Daran and Shanna Bedel; two grandchildren, Camden and Waylon Scott; two grandchildren by marriage, Imberlin Hueneke and Jupiter Bedel; her brother, Joshua (Jasmine) Harris of Dickson and their four children who called her Aunt Jo Jo: Camellia, Breiana (Bre Bre), Kenzie, and Zzaylon (ZZ) Harris.

Joanna will be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
