 Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at the Dickson First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Lee and Rev. Ed White officiating.  Visitation scheduled for Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Graveside service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 2:30 PM at the Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike S., Nashville, TN. 

Rev. Maurice Brown Moore died on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Martin Methodist College H.E. and Annie Lee Moore Endowed Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.

Rev. Moore was born May 19, 1930, in what is now known as Fairview of Williamson County, TN from the union of Rev. Henry Eugene and Annie Lee Brown Moore.  At the time of his birth, his father, who served as minister in the rural areas of the Tennessee Methodist Conference, was pastor of the Pleasant Valley Charge. 

In 1950, Rev. Moore joined in marriage with Nashville native, Nancy Sadler, a journey that would last over 68 years. 

Maurice was educated in the public schools of Humphreys, Wayne, Hickman, and Lawrence Counties in Tennessee.  He graduated high school in Lawrenceburg in 1948.  Other schools he attended include: Martin College in Pulaski (1948-1950), Scarritt College in Nashville (1950-1953) where he received a B.A. degree, and Vanderbilt Divinity School, where he was awarded the master’s of divinity degree in 1956. 

Rev. Moore was licensed to preach in 1948.  He was admitted on trial in the Tennessee Conference in 1953, ordained a deacon in 1954, and ordained an elder in 1956.   He has served the following appointments:  Nashville Larger Parish (1950-1951); Gallatin Circuit (1951-1953); Lambuth Memorial in Gallatin (1953-1956); Lafayette (1956-1963); Lambuth Memorial (1963-1965); Carthage (1965-1972); Connell Memorial in Goodlettsville (1972-1975); Lebanon First United Methodist Church (1975-1978); Director of Conference Council on Ministries (1978-1980); senior minister of Cookeville First United Methodist Church (1980-1985); Cookeville District Superintendent (1985-1990); First United Methodist Church in Pulaski (1990-1995).  Following retirement in 1995, he served St. Paul in McMinnville, Shiloh/Mt. Lebanon, Centertown Circuit, and Hickory Point.  After moving to Dickson in 2009, he occasionally filled pulpits and preached at the Dickson First UMC. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Annemarie Moore; his sisters, Frankie Keyes and Margaret Moore; his brothers, Rev. Eugene Moore and Irvin Moore.

Rev. Maurice Moore is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Sadler Moore; his son, John Keith Moore (Deborah) of Arlington, TX; daughters, Carol Elaine Moore of Dickson, TN, and Mary Susan Bradshaw (Keith) of Centerville, TN; sister, Mary Lou Moore of Nashville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Laura Ann Evans (Sam), Claire Elaine Ryan (Paul), Kyle Joseph Bradshaw (Mariah), Abigail Sadler Moore, and Luke Justice Bradshaw; 6 great grandchildren.
