John Richard Adolf Landeen

Mr. John Richard Adolf Landeen, age 90 of Dickson, died Sunday, February 24, 2013. The family will fulfill his request to be cremated and placed beside his late wife. He was born May 20, 1922 in Litchfield, Minnesota. He was a Son of Ellis Island immigrants from Ireland and Sweden, the late Adolf and Edith Thelin Landeen. John entered the United States Army January 12, 1943 at Camp Grant in Illinois and proudly served his Country during World War II as a Technical Sergeant with the 357th Bomb Squadron. He was involved with training for the B-24 and B-29 bomber plane and served in the Pacific as an Aircraft Armorer. After the War, John worked for over 25 years as a pattern maker for the General Motors Company. He broadened his horizons in the American culture. John and his late Wife, Margaret Josephine Denigan Landeen were known to 'wear out' their dancing shoes. He enjoyed hands-on projects like painting, woodworking, gardening and fishing. He played the harmonica, accordion and keyboard. He was known to his Grandchildren as 'Bumpy', he loved them so much. Even at the age of 90, John still enjoyed listening and relaxing to the sounds of the big band era like Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller. He is survived by his Children, Barbara Lastovka of Dickson, Jan Carlin of Dickson, and Marlene (Todd) Landeen of Burns; Grandchildren, Michael (Audra) Lastovka, Chad (Maria) Lastovka, Maggie Carlin, Kyle Koenig, Justin Koenig; 2 Great Grandchildren, Micah Lastovka, and Ava Lastovka; Special Friend, John Hargrove.
