 Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Craig officiating.  Visitation will begin on Friday at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. After cremation his place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Dickson County Help Center.

J. R., age 74, of Dickson, TN died Sept 10, 2019 at Tri Star Medical Center.

He was born in Sikeston, Missouri on July 6, 1945 to the late Jasper Richard Humphreys, Sr. and Charlene Beck Humphreys. He was an accomplished machinist who formerly owned H and H Machining and Welding.  He had the best qualities of a type A personality: hardworking, ambitious, active, outgoing and very organized. J. R., known by his family as “Big Dad”, loved his family, from his parents and their extended families, down to his great grandchildren.  He came from a close-knit family and always remained close to his two siblings throughout the years. He was always there and present at family events such as birthday parties, and always eager to help with anything and everything.

J.R. loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was intelligent and loved to read.  He was very patriotic and loved his country and loved the flag.  Growing up in Dickson, he was a loyal friend to many. He was dependable, honest and generous. In his giving and helping the ones in need, he always liked to remain anonymous.

J. R. was a Christian man and member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Dickson, TN.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Raines, and a brother, Mike Humphreys.

Survivors include his wife; Brenda Lemley Humphreys of Dickson, TN, his two children; Lori Natterstad and her husband, Kevin of Dickson, TN and Jay Humphreys of Dickson,TN, his five grandchildren; Quent, Shae, Shelbi, Jax and Myla, his two great grandchildren; Walt and Brynleigh.
