A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 4:00 PM at the Walnut Street Church of Christ with Bro. Alan Ragan & Bro. Steve Baggett officiating.  Military Honors will be rendered following the service at the church.  Mr. Dunn will be placed at rest on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and on Tuesday at Walnut Street Church of Christ from 2:00 PM until the time of service. 

Mr. William Elmer Dunn, age 93 of Dickson, TN died on October 26, 2019.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ Building Fund or to the charity of your choice.

Mr. Elmer was born and raised on Dog Creek at the Harpeth River, near Kingston Springs, Cheatham County, Tennessee.  He was a son of the late Robert L. and Cecil Appleton Dunn.  He was educated in the public schools of Cheatham and Dickson Counties, graduating from White Bluff’s William James High School in 1941.  He then obtained a degree from Peabody College, many years prior to its merger with Vanderbilt University.  He worked for Bell Telephone Companies for 35 years.  He retired in 1987.  He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy (1944-1946) as an aviation machinist.  He was baptized in the Harpeth River at the age of 21. He attended the Church of Christ at Bellevue from 1977 until 2000.  He then moved to Dickson County and was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ until his passing.  Mr. Elmer was known for being a student of the Bible and for his homemade peanut brittle.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Cavender Dunn; his daughters, Nancilynn Dunn and Sherrie Dunn Evans; his brother, James F. Dunn; his sister, Jacqueline Dunn Taylor; and daughter-in-law, Lori Corley.

 Mr. Dunn is survived by his stepsons, Douglas Corley of Marietta, GA, Jeffrey Corley of Vanleer, TN, and Gregory Corley of Dallas, TX; son-in-law, Leslie Evans of Sugar Tree, TN; grandchildren, Hannah Corley of Dallas, TX, Grayson Corley of Dallas, TX, Landon Corley of Dallas, TX, Todd Evans (Kristin) of Brentwood, TN, Christy Evans of Jackson, TN; great grandchildren, Josiah Evans and Bethany Grace Evans.
