Marvin W. Crouch, 94, died peacefully Sunday, March 1, 2020 at The Meadows in Bellevue, TN. He was born February 10, 1926 in Nashville, TN.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Dorothy Crouch and his son, W. Ray Crouch, Sr.

He was the son of the late Hubert C. and Tommie Middlebrook Crouch.

He is survived by son, Robert D. Crouch (Martha) and grandchildren W. Ray Crouch, Jr. (Jessica), Sherrie Collins (Brooks), and Robert D. Crouch, Jr. (Rachel). Marvin had 6 great-grandchildren: Judson, Lila, Georgia, and Ellie Collins, Marvin and Lucy Crouch.

Marvin was a combat veteran of World War II. When he returned from the war, he met and married his wife Dorothy.  They lived most of their long marriage and raised their two sons in the town of Kingston Springs.  He became a printer by trade. Later in life, he became a business owner in the community of Kingston Springs where he ran the Shell Station, an auto repair shop, and Crouch’s Wrecker Service.

Marvin was the oldest member of the Kingston Springs Church of Christ where he served as an elder. From his youth, he had the heart of a servant, always the first to volunteer for church or community service. He helped to build the church building on Main Street. He spent many hours sitting with the sick, lonely, and bereaved.   He was a member of the Civic Club, scout master of Boy Scout troop 594, and a founding member of the K. S. Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Assistant Fire Chief. In 2017, the main fire hall became Crouch Hall in honor of his and his sons’ years of service. Marvin was also a member of the Cheatham County School board for 14 years where he served as both a member and chairman.  He was instrumental in the addition of two new high schools in Cheatham county, built in Kingston Springs and Pleasant View.

After breaking his hip in 2017, Marvin resided at The Meadows in Bellevue where he was loved by staff and residents. He was called on to pray after church services and assemblies and even morning staff meetings.  He spent the last years of his life receiving many visitors. Even as his memory was failing, he remembered his family and friends and loved to talk about the old days. He missed his wife every day and was ready to join her at the Lord’s calling.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Kingston Springs Church of Christ.  Steve Walker along with Mr. Crouch’s son and grandsons will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2020 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, TN from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those desiring, memorials are suggested to The Meadows in memory of Mr. Marvin Crouch. Place of rest will be in the Bluff View Memorial Gardens with military honors. Family and Friends will serve as casket bearers.
