He was born in Nashville, Tennessee son of the late Cecil F. and Vivian Elliott Adcox.  In his early years he lived in various places in the continental United States because his dad served our country in the United States Air Force. His dad died when he was 13 years of age.  After the passing of his father, his family moved back home to Centerville. He often spoke of the influence his maternal grandparents had on his life after he moved back; they were Johnny and Addie Elliott.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Hickman County High School, where he lettered in basketball and football. After high school he attended Middle Tennessee State University and played for the Blue Raiders Football team until injuries cut his football career short.  He went on to graduate from Belmont University with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education.  He was a former coach, teacher and mentor to countless young people at his alma mater, Hickman County High School.

Mike currently worked with Ortwein Sign Company as General Manager of the Nashville division.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, was Past Master of the Centerville Masonic Lodge #618 and was a member of the Dickson Masonic Lodge #468.  Mike is a member of Hope Church in Centerville and loved his church family.

Mike married the love of his life on July 16, 1971, Patricia Ann Marvin, who survives. During their 49 years of marriage they had two children, Kimberly Lake Hammon and her husband, Nathan and Michael Elliott Adcox, Jr. and his wife Nikki. Between the two children they have 6 grandchildren, Claire, Hunter, Amber, Sam, Sara Beth, and Caleb. Also surviving is his sister, Barbara Hill, his brother, Mark Adcox, his niece, Leah Conder and her husband Greg, his nephew, Hal Loveless and his wife, Stephanie. Several great nieces and nephews.
