Homegoing services with Military Honors will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Shanell Corbin delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the East Dickson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of service also at the funeral home.

Richard Lefayette Anderson, age 86 of Dickson, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 8 at Horizon Medical Center. He was born on May 11, 1934 to the late Herbert and Clara Bell Anderson in Charlotte, TN. At an early age, he was a member of the McGavok Chapel AME Church in Charlotte. He was also a graduate of Hampton High School in Dickson.

Mr. Anderson then went on to bravely serve his country in the United States Army as an infantryman in the Korean Conflict. He drove a school bus for the Dickson County Board of Education for over 42 years until his health would not allow him to do so anymore. He also worked at the Tie Yard in Dickson as well as Kerr McGee Chemical Products for many years.

Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a kind, loving man who never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Louise Anderson; his second wife, Katrinia Anderson; his sons: Michael Payne and Tony Anderson; and his brothers: Walton Anderson, Thomas Herbert Anderson, and Ray Anderson.

Survivors include his loving daughters: Clara Alanda “Lynn” Anderson, Marilyn Spicer, Cassandra Payne, and Shawnique Collins; his sister: Delois Fossie; his nieces: Roslinda Sowell, Regina Ramey, and Lisa Rucker Anderson; nephews: Scotty Anderson and Gregory Fossie; his grandchildren: Ralph E. Carr, Jr, Jazman Carr, Fabin Dewayne Vaughn, Kenyatrus Payne, Tiawan Bradley, Raychelle Anderson, Sharando Primm, Shanika Johnson, Kimberly Payne, and Shawn Johnson; his sister-in-law: Linda Anderson; his best friends: the late Robert Hannah, Dr. Jimmy Overton, and Ethel Woods. He is also survived by many greatgrandchildren, cousins, extended family, and friends.
