Billy, age 80, of Burns, TN died peacefully December 16, 2020 at Brookdale Belle Meade Memory Care.

He was born in Dickson County and was the son of the late Francis Lafayette (Joe) and Hazel Evelyn Shelton Gentry. He proudly honored his country while serving in the National Guard. Billy was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ. He married the former Elva Mallady in 1962. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Wooten.

Billy was a simple man that lived a simple life with his wife Elva. He loved his God, his family and his community.

He retired from Ford Glass Plant in the quality control division with almost 36 years of service.

While driving by he and Elva’s house in Burns, one could immediately notice that Billy loved working in the yard and in the summer all of his gardens were quite visible. He loved to grow his vegetables and share with friends and neighbors.  Billy also loved his Ford family and always was in attendance to his Union meetings.

Survivors include his wife, Elva, his two grandsons, Joseph Wooten and Jonathan Wooten. Also surviving is his nephew, Chris Spencer and a four legged companion, Maggie.
