 Margaret Eleanor Cooksey West, age 89, of Dickson, TN died suddenly Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Hilton Head, SC while vacationing with family.

She was born in the Yellow Creek Community of Dickson County and was the daughter of the late George Tubb and Mary Eleanor Crouch Cooksey.  She was the wife of the late Rev. Roy J. West who died in 2008.  At his death, they had been married for 58 years.  She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lou West; a grandson, Wade Morgan; her brothers, William Cooksey, George Cooksey, Haden Cooksey, Henry Cooksey, Norman Cooksey, and Jesse Rook Cooksey.

She was a faithful member of Dickson First United Methodist Church where she attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  Mrs. West was a 1949 graduate of Dickson High School where she had the second highest grades in her class.  She later attended Martin Methodist College where she was a member of the choir and took archery classes.

Margaret West was a giving and supporting pastor’s wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was known for being a great prayer warrior and sending greeting cards and letters to encourage others.  Her gentle smile and kind spirit will always be remembered by those that knew her.

She is survived by her three children; Barbara West Morgan and her husband, David, William Reed (Bill) West and his wife, Bonnie, and Brenda Lee West Scott and her husband, Mark, her grandchildren; Sam Morgan, David Morgan, Jr., Sarah West, Michael West, Barrett Scott, Rachel Scott Barton, Stephen Scott and Eleanor Scott, her great grandchildren; Jewell West, Killian Tabor, Ashley Morgan, Briley Morgan, Colten Morgan and Egan Barton, her sister; Phoebe Swift of Cheyenne, WY and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Dickson First United Methodist Church.  Ed White will officiate.  Visitation will be Saturday, June 5 at Taylor Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  On Sunday, visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Dickson First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be private at the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
