Mrs. Betty Potter was born on June 3, 1939 in Humphreys County, TN. She loved God and spent many years serving as a pastor’s wife. Second to God, she loved her family, a very large family. Along with her husband, their desire to teach others about Jesus Christ, and their love for children led them to guide, aid and care for nearly 80 foster children. Although Houston County has been her home for the last 20 + years, many people would remember Betty for her many years of employment with Wal-Mart in Dickson, TN.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Potter; her children, Keith Potter (Kelly), Karen Blackmon (Mark), Ken Potter (Christie), and Kevin Potter (Rena); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sampson Potter; her sister, Rhonda Tummins (Robert); 4 Brothers, Charlie Tummins (Nancy), Tony Tummins (Rita), Ray Tummins (Sherry); sisters-in-law, Naomi Tummins, Linda Sutton, and Thelma Carpenter; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Mrs. Potter was preceded by her parents, Willie Henry “Dooner” Tummins and Lola Lee Berryman Tummins; her son, Robin Kirk Potter; grandchildren, Ashlyn, and Aubrey Potter; sister, Imogene Tummins and her husband, Lonnie “Bounce” Tummins Jr., brothers, Buddy, Bobby, Delmar, Walter, and Billy Tummins.
