Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Sesler officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12 noon until the time of service. Graveside services will be on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Memphis Memory Gardens located at 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd. Memphis, TN 38134.

Billy Grantham, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN. He was born to John Miller Grantham and Mary Roberta Norton Grantham on June 1, 1930, in Middleton, TN. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1948 and the University of Memphis in 1960 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He served active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1952. 

He worked as a civilian employee for the Federal government for more than 40 years, serving in various managerial positions during that time. He retired as an executive officer from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1990. During that time, he twice received the Meritorious Civilian Services award in the U. S. Government. He has also received over 200 other awards, letters of commendation and appreciation from both the government and the private sector.

Billy was a much loved and respected individual who touched lives in many ways. He was a charter member of Burns Baptist Church and served there for many years. When he married Betty, he became an active member at First Free Will Baptist Church in Burns, TN. He continued to attend there until he moved to Bartlett, TN in 2020.

In retirement, he was active and often served as president and chairmen of numerous community associations.

Billy enjoyed deer hunting, conservation, ATV riding and farming. He was talker, jokester, and a great storyteller. He always had a story to tell about any subject you might mention. 

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Freeman Grantham and his second wife Betty Buttrey Grantham; his sisters Mary Penn and Joann Grantham and his brother, Miller Grantham. He is survived by his three sisters, Edie Rowland of Collierville, TN, Ona Bonds of Mobile, AL and Jean (Don) Palmer of Bartlett, TN as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, Burns, TN or The Dickson County Library.
