Kenneth Wesley (Butch) Culp, age 75, of Brentwood, Tennessee died early Sunday morning, October 31, 2021. Born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 8, 1946, he had a commission to the Air Force Academy in Colorado and graduated at Iowa State in 1970 with a degree in aerospace engineering.

Ken had a long career in project management in the power industry, beginning with General Electric in Schenectady, New York, then working at Westinghouse and other small firms. He was project manager for the initial gas turbine installation in New Johnsonville, Tennessee and did extensive work throughout the TVA system and across the US.

Ken loved working with numbers, and after retiring, he became a self-taught financial planner and manager. It was his passion for over 25 years.  He was very detailed, had a photographic memory and never forgot a name or number. He was the quintessential planner not only in work but in every area of life.

One of his loves was golf, but he loved and played all sports and was even a champion junior bowler. He became an avid Cowboys fan for life while living in Dallas for 28 years. Ken was quiet, easy going, had a dry sense of humor and never had a negative word to say about anyone. He loved his family, his dogs, Prince and Bella, and handing out candy to the kids on Halloween.

Mostly homebound for the past four years, during Covid virtual-only church he and Cathy enjoyed watching 3-4 church services each Sunday, including their Dallas church, Prestonwood, and their local church, Brentwood Baptist.  Ken couldn’t and didn’t sing and would’ve preferred to get on with the message, but he loved that Cathy loved music, and he loved to watch her sing in the choir. He would often want Cathy to re-watch the music portion of the service when she got home.

During their 46 years of marriage, Ken and Cathy lived in 10 homes, visited 47 states and enjoyed travel to 11 countries.

Ken is survived by his wife, Cathy Robinson Culp, his sister Sandra (Richard) Milstead of Annapolis MD, and niece, Kate Milstead of Boone, NC.  He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wesley Culp, Sr. and his mother Mabelle Charlotte (Sue) Carlson Culp.
