A homegoing service will take place on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors.

Mr. Roger O’Neil Corlew, age 74 of Charlotte, TN departed this life on November 6, 2021, at the VA Medical Center of Nashville. He was born to the late Lee Roger and Annie Mae Collier Corlew on June 9, 1947, in Dickson County.

He attended Cedar Grove Elementary in Charlotte and Hampton High School in Dickson. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving two years overseas in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he worked for CSX Railroad 20 plus years as a brakeman until his retirement. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and attended McGavock Chapel AME Church in Charlotte, TN. He was a faithful member, having served as Trustee and a choir member. He truly loved his church family and would always lend a helping hand to anyone. He was very proud of his service in the United States Army and at McGavock Chapel. He was also a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family and was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Altomont Corlew; and a son: Shannon O’Neil Corlew.

Surviving and left to cherish his memory is his daughter: Erica Williams of Dickson; his son: Kevin Lawrence (Teyeli) of Nashville; sister: Maureen Brand of Charlotte; brother: Jerry Corlew (Deloris) of Dickson; his grandchildren: Cailyn Amara Williams, Quianna Nicole Webster, Devin O’Neil Corlew, Nathaniel Collier Corlew, Kateri Louise Webster; as well as 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and cousins. Also surviving are devoted friends: Richard Darden, Joel Wicks, James “Jimmy” Edmondson, Sr., Ricky Wallace, Donnell Ramey, Larry Jackson, Keith Robertson, Al Vaughn, Billy Gilbert, and Bradley Primm.
