Bro. James Landon Carrington, age 81, was born March 4, 1940, in Stem, NC, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior before sunrise on January 14, 2022, while at home surrounded by family.

He was the son of the late J.L. Carrington and Edna Roberts Carrington Day.  He served in the Navy Reserves for 5 years and was very patriotic and supportive of his country and its service men and women.  He prayed for his country often and reminded others to pray for the salvation of our friends and neighbors.  He was knowledgeable in many trades and worked as an electronic technician in his younger years and served his Lord in ministry. He was a talented carpenter, builder, gardener, and painter.   He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and experiencing God’s beautiful creation.

Bro. Carrington loved God, reading the Bible, and telling others about Jesus Christ. Known as “Pastor Carrington” or “Brother C”, he was faithful and dedicated to sharing the Gospel from the pulpit for over 40 years.  His pastoral ministry included the congregations at Mt. Olive FWB Church in Plymouth, NC; United FWB Church in Dickson, TN; Solitude FWB Church in Adamsville, TN; and Liberty FWB Church in Guin, AL.  To many, he was “their Pastor” long after having served their church.

His trademark was his unforgettable smile, and the apple of his eye…his faithful wife, Judy.  They were joined in marriage in 1960 and spent a lifetime together ministering, teaching and enjoying companionship as God intended.  He loved his family and spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Bro. James Carrington is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julia “Judy” Marie Cameron Carrington; his two daughters, Jena Simpson (Barry), and Kim Snyder (Blain); his four grandchildren, Joseph Landon Simpson (Amber), Benjamen Ray Simpson (Elizabeth), Maigan Elizabeth Mayberry (Joe), and Seth Carrington Snyder (Jessalyn); his eight great grandchildren, Jake Landon Simpson, Avery Gayle Simpson, Joleigh Reese Simpson, Autry Mae Simpson, Cameron Ray Simpson, Makenna Grace Simpson, Owen Cephaus Mayberry, Estella Ridley Snyder.  Also surviving is his sister, Brenda Jean Tripp; two half-brothers, Mickey Shane Day, and Rickey Wayne Day; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepsister, JoAnn Norman; and a stepbrother, Jim Ward.

Jimmie lived a full life, complete with joy, laughter, and giving honor to Christ.  He left a humble legacy of pointing souls to the cross, glorifying God in life and death.
