Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Ham officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Place of rest will be in the Middle TN Veteran’s Cemetery.

Roosevelt Douglas “Poss” Mangrum, age 88, formerly of Dickson County and Nashville, passed away on January 22, 2022, at the Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born on March 14, 1933, to the late Owen Caleb “Dick” and Hannah Sullivan Mangrum in Dickson County.
Poss was raised with seven siblings in Burns, attending Dickson County schools until he joined the Navy in 1952. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in September of 1960. He married Elizabeth Lucille Daugherty on July 7, 1956, in Ringold, GA. The lived in Nashville, TN, while raising two children until Lucille’s passing. He later moved back to Burns and eventually into the Olive Branch Assisted Living in Dickson.
He worked for most of his life for Oman Construction Company for most of his adult life where he achieved the position of Labor Foreman. He would frequently point out different projects or places where he had done work if you were riding around Nashville with him. He enjoyed fishing, football, gardening, mowing grass, and telling stories.
In addition to his parents and wife, Poss was preceded in death by his brothers: Vernon Mangrum and George Mangrum; and his sister: Betty Jo Mangrum.
Survivors include his son: Douglas Mangrum (Teresa) of Pegram, TN; his daughter: Jawanda Perry (Roy) of Jonesboro, AR; his brothers: Hadley Mangrum of Lyles, TN and Tommy Mangrum of Burns, TN; his sisters: Joan Myatt (Delmer) of Burns, TN, Elvana Henderson of Hendersonville, TN and Doris Mangrum (Walter) of Nashville, TN; his 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
