Mrs. Willie Ruth Story Baker, age 86, of White Bluff, TN died peacefully March 1, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

Mrs. Baker was born in Dickson County and was the daughter of the late Gene and Cora Kephart Story; however, she was raised by the late Richard and Ailene Woodard. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Elmo Baker and a son Mark Stephen Baker.

She was a loving and devoted wife to Mr. Baker. They were married for 67 years at his death in 2019. During those years of marriage, they never spent any significant time apart. Between Mr. and Mrs. Baker and their sons they all had a total of 225 years of marriage between them. Even though she worked for many years for the Dickson County Board of Education as a cafeteria cook, her main focus was on family. Raising her boys was a full-time job in itself. Her boys referred to her as a “True Mother” always good food on the table and their clothing clean. After retirement she loved spending time as a volunteer at the Dickson County Help Center.

She was a friend to many and being a loyal friend was important to her.

Endless care, comfort and love was extended to our family by Janie Spicer and Amanda Lovelace. We will never forget the kindness and devotion that we received from both of you.

Survivors include her four sons; Wade Baker and his wife Sheryl of White Bluff, TN, Tim Baker and his wife Wanda of Kingston Springs, TN, Darryl Baker and his wife Dana of Burns, TN and Terry Baker and his wife Senita of Dickson, TN, her seven grandchildren; Kyle Baker, Caleb Baker, Kara Crummer, Rachel Baker, Bryce Baker, Morgan Baker Rees and Bradley Baker, her seven great-grandchildren; Campbell Baker, Kaiden Baker, Grayson Baker, Clifton Crummer, Brooks Baker, Clara Crummer and Baker Rees. Several nieces and nephews.

Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law will serve as casket bearers.
