Claytie Sutton Batey, age 87, of Dickson, TN, passed away peacefully at Horizon Medical Center on April 25, 2022.
She was born on June 19, 1934 to the late Henry and Ethel Sutton, who owned Sutton’s Grocery. Claytie worked there all her early and mid-years. She was an excellent homemaker for her family since 1954. She was married to Billy (Bill) Joe Batey for 65 years until his death in 2018. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and spending time on cruises and Florida beaches.
She was a 1952 graduate of Charlotte High School and a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church, where she attended regularly when health permitted. She was a volunteer of the American Cancer Society for 16 years and also a volunteer for 18 years at Horizon Medical Center. She was active in the Literacy Club for 25 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Batey and brother, Floyd Sutton and Son-in-law, Philip Seals.
She is survived by her daughters; Roxanne Senter (Tony) of Hendersonville, TN, Cindy Seals of Dickson, TN, granddaughters; Brooke Crosby (Derek) of Dickson, TN, Brittany Floyd (Jason) of Gallatin, TN, Ashley Batey, Stacy Batey, Great-Grandchildren; Addison King, Bryce Floyd, Ellyott Floyd, and Emmersyn Floyd.
